Highway 115 Sewer Project Spending Concerns
The county will pay $3.9 million to upsize water and sewer lines along the Highway 115/Speedway corridor as part of NCDOT's road project. Supporters say it's a once-only chance to add capacity for jobs and growth; opponents say county taxpayers shouldn't fund municipal utilities. The county risks losing $7 million in already-spent federal funds if the project isn't finished.
Airport Sewer Line and $2.2 Million EDA Grant
Three sewer easements on county-owned land were approved, clearing the last paperwork hurdle for a $2.2 million federal EDA grant to finish the sewer line to the airport. Residents along the corridor could eventually tap into public sewer.
